With today’s growing need for efficiency and flexibility during the plant design and layout phase, Weidmuller announces FieldPower® – a universal decentralized power distribution system for mechanical and systems engineering, at airports, at intra-logistics, and in automotive production. Anywhere there is a need to distribute power over extensive distances the innovative FieldPower® can help.

The FieldPower® product line features an all-in-one PowerBox– an IP 65 rated power unit distribution box that integrates the functions of power supply, extension, motor circuits, and distribution into one module, offering a replacement to the traditional star configured distribution. Each PowerBox is mounted at any point within the plant with a continuous, uncut 5-pole power cable placed inside. It can be used to terminate the power line, supply power, and outgoing lines with Insulation Displacement (IDC) connectors and round or flat cabling. Both types of cables can be used at the same time in a single PowerBox for added flexibility. The PowerBox enables users to reduce the length of cable runs and dramatically shorten the installation time. The results– direct cost savings and a reduction in connectors and wires.

The PowerBox is rated to 800V and 41A. PowerBox plug-in connectors have been equipped with rapid and reliable Push-In connectivity, the innovative direct insertion technology for wire termination. Twin connectors are also available to implement two single-feeder spur lines. One or two starters/frequency converters or other loads can be connected to the contact block, as well. Cartridge fuse links are utilized to protect loads, outgoing feeders, and junctions – and reductions to cable cross-sections in particular. A simple red LED indicates fuse failure. The PowerBox has an IP 65 protection rating and a comprehensive range of accessories– plug-in connectors, cables and pre-fabricated cable assemblies, seals and tools.

In addition to the PowerBox, Weidmuller offers customers a comprehensive range of FieldPower® accessories and options to suit individual application requirements, including prefabricated connection cable assemblies, plug-in connectors, heavy-duty connectors, wire-end ferrules, IP65-protected seals for modules, maintenance switches, sheathing strippers for PVC cables, and additional tools.
