WI-I/O-9-U2 Wireless I/O

Wireless Mesh Multi I/O & Gateway

Overview

The WI-I/O-9-U2 combines multi I/O and/or gateway functionality with the reliability of secure and scalable mesh distance communications. Using IP-based addressing, the WI-I/O-9-U2 provides mesh/self-healing network communications, multi-hop repeating and remote over the air re-configuration and diagnostics. Users will benefit from its ease of commissioning and integration into an existing wireless or wired network.

The WI-I/O-9-U2 is a 900Mhz FHSS (Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum) device, which has the unique ability for setup as a self-healing wireless mesh network. The one (1) watt transmit/receive power of the radio means it can push through many obstacles and cover greater distances than traditional transceivers. The self-healing network allows for redundancy and distance capabilities, providing a rugged and reliable wireless network, regardless of size. Weidmuller’s new Multi I/O Gateway combines 128bit AES encryption and a unique algorithm to provide secure communications and diminish the chances of potential signal hacking or jamming.

The WI-I/O-9-U2 has an onboard combination of Digital Inputs/Outputs, Analog Inputs/Outputs and Pulse Inputs/Outputs. It can be easily expanded with the addition of Weidmuller’s standard Serial Expansion WI-I/O-EX modules.

For applications that require a Modbus TCP/RTU Gateway, the WI-I/O-9-U2 can be easily upgraded via a software key, without the need to rewire or take the system out of commission. All programming, updates and upgrades can be done over the air or remotely, which eliminates the need of a physical connection to the device. Thermocouple inputs can also be fed directly into the unit via a simple plug-in adaptor, making an external analog converter unnecessary. The Thermocouple adaptor features built-in cold-junction compensation, so the radios manage the analog conversion internally.

With unrivaled scalability, hazardous area approvals that include cCSAus C1D2, UL, CE and a wide operating temperature range of -40˚C to +60˚C (-40˚F to +140˚F), these units can be installed in virtually any application.
